To provide some context for today’s Daily Digit on U.S. energy consumption, the BBC produced a six-video series on the Hiroshima atomic bomb attack.

The one bomb, dubbed “Little Boy,” released 63 tera-joules of energy (63,000,000,000 joules).

The total U.S. consumption of energy in 2007 equals the force of 15 atomic bombs.
